Welcome all to the WI notice for monthly meetings 2019. I revisited this posting of a year ago and did it just before Christmas. Amazing, I’m well ahead of the drag curve, though haven’t finalised as many speakers as I would have liked to just before the AGM! So, here goes and hopefully it will be finalised before the end of October.
January 2019 – Harriet Beveridge, Comedienne Extraordinaire!
Due to an amazing contact, we are extremely lucky to secure Harriet Beveridge who is a Comic, Keynote Speaker and Author to speak to us this month. She wrote the bestselling book, ‘Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?’ and has been coaching for over 20 years. As a stand up comic, Harriet was semi-finalist in the UK Funny Women Awards and has written and performed three solo runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Harriet will be performing her latest show, ‘menoPAUSE’, which is a searingly honest, laugh-out-loud account of her own encounters with Oestrogen Armageddon.

Jonathan from the Herschel Museum is going to come and speak to us about Caroline Herschel. Caroline Herschel was a pioneering female astronomer, and the first woman to discover a comet. Her achievements enabled generations of women to develop a career in the sciences, a field that was once exclusively reserved for men.
