Welcome all to the WI notice for monthly meetings 2018. Here I am on the Saturday before Christmas – devoted to the end, or just running late. One family member is in the kitchen wrapping presents and the rest are meandering round Bath looking for that elusive gift or that early sale bargain. Yet, devoted to the end, I feel I’ve shirked from my postings for too long, so with great trepidation, here it is, a starter for 10 or perhaps 12…..
January 2018 – Charlie -The Deputy Head of Strategic Unmanned Air Systems
Our first talk for 2018 is cutting edge stuff! Charlie is talking to us about drones and the role she plays. She recommends watching Eye in the Sky starring Helen Mirren before our meeting, but if you don’t manage it, don’t worry. If you have an Amazon Prime membership you can download it and watch if for free, or sweet talk a friend or family member to let you use theirs! Mind you, the Bath Library may well have it – though don’t all rush or keep it longer than a day as their may be a long request list!
February 2018 – Sally Helvey – Trustee, Cleveland Pools Trust
We’re lucky to have Sally coming to speak about the Cleveland Pools. She will be talking about the history of the pool and the plans for it’s restoration and how they have, and still are fundraising for such a worthwhile project.
March 2018 – Charity
March will be our annual charity speaker. As you can imagine, we are overwhelmed by charities hoping to promote their worthwhile cause at a WI meeting. Hopefully, we will decide our speaker at the committee meeting in January.
April 2018 – Morris Dancers
We always like to provide an element of keep fit/exercise each year. A committee member has a secret contact, so hopefully we’ll have some dancers who will be able to show us a few moves!
May 2018 – We thought we might risk the weather again and have another games evening in St Mary’s hall and gardens. Last year was a great success and hopefully we can repeat the fun in a similar format.
June 2018 – Dan – Head Gardener, Dyrham Park, National Trust
A lot of hard work has been done in Dyrham Garden over recent years. Dan is going to tell us about the project and the continuing future vision for its completion.
July 2018 – Boules Taster Session
Following the success of Croquet in 2016, we thought we might organise a taster session of Boules.
August 2018 – Summer Break
September 2018 –
October 2018 – AGM with a little something fun
November 2018 – Duncan – Fine Dining over the Centuries
Duncan has said that he would be delighted to come and talk about fine dining and the use of silverware over the centuries. It’s bound to be interesting,
December 2018 – Christmas Quiz
