You’re very welcome to come along to one of our meetings and find out more about us before you join (there is a small charge for guests).
Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month and last a couple of hours and we have speakers ranging from eating to writing , paint to pearls, local charities to local MPs and radio presenters. We also hold social events throughout the year. And there’s always a chance to chat to other members over a glass of wine before the meeting starts.
Don’t worry if you’re coming on your own, most of our members didn’t know each other before they joined and we’re a very friendly bunch. So, if you’re new to the area, fancy learning some new skills or meeting like-minded women then please come along.
To join the WI for the full year costs £39. This reduces pro rata throughout the year: April onwards £29.25, July onwards £19.50 and October till the end of the year £9.75.
For that you’ll receive.
- Membership of The Bath WI with a year’s programme of events
- An opportunity to join our clubs and groups (book club, craft group, darts team, walking group, gardening group)
- The chance to take part in our ‘out and about’ events and activities
- Access to national federation activities
- Eight issues a year of the WI membership magazine WI Life
- The chance to attend a wide range of courses at Denman College, the WI residential centre at Marcham- visit www.theWI.org.uk/college online to book your place, or see the course guide
- Have your voice heard: making a real impact on local, national and international issues
- The opportunity to learn, develop and pass on new skills
- Belonging to something special: making friends, working as a team, having fun
- The chance to support the local community

Hi there,
I am really interested in coming along to a WI meeting and learning new skills along with meeting like minded friends.
Just to confirm the next meeting at Bathwick will be 7th October at 7:30?
Many thanks,
Heather
Hi Heather – yes, our next meeting is 7th Oct at St Marys, Bathwick. Doors open at 7.30pm and we kick off about 8pm. It is our AGM so there will be a bit of admin to do first and then Sarah is going to show us how to carve pumpkins in to works of art. Please bring your own pumpkin and to save time we recommend scooping out the seeds and some of the middle in advance! Lookin forward to meeting you!
Hi Pamela – we meet the first Wednesday of the month (so our next meeting is 7th October) at St Mary’s Bath. Doors open at 7.30 for members and guests to get themselves a glass of wine or elderflower and have a chat and we kick off about 8pm. Our October meeting is a little different as it is our AGM, so there is a bit more admin than usual before our past President Sarah shows us how to turn pumpkins in to works of art. Please bring a pumpkin, and to save time on the night, you might want to scoop out the seeds and some of the flesh…we are told an icecream scoop is great for scooping. I think you will also need to bring a knife on the night.
I would like to come to the November meeting if the Bath WI.
I recently moved to Bath from Cape Town and would love to male some new friends and learn some new skills.
Many thanks
Katie
Sorry for late response – please do come along next Wednesday. We meet at St Mary’s Bathwick and doors open at 7.30 ready for us to kick off at 8pm…and we will be belly dancing!
I am interested in coming along to your November meeting to find out a bit more about the WI, can I just turn up on the night? Is it the first Wednesday of the month? Thanks.

Hi Lisa,
We next meet on Wednesday 2nd November at St Mary’s, Bathwick. Doors open at 7.30pm and we kick off at 8pm. Mallory’s will be talking to us about diamonds (they are apparently a girl’s best friend you know!). Do come along and see what you think of us (£4 on the door to come as a guest); we look forward to meeting you.
I am interested in coming along to a WI meeting something I have been meaning to do for a while!
I live on Wellsway so could you direct me to the nearest WI group.
Many thanks
Marie
Hi Marie,
I think we are probably your closest WI. We meet at S Mary’s Bathwick on the first Wednesday of the month, doors open at 7.30pm. You can see the other WIs in Bath on the Avon Federation of WIs website:http://www.avonfwi.org.uk/default.asp?PageID=670
Hi
I am currently living in the Bath area and looking to join a local group
I do enjoy socialising and creating things and being part of a group
I am currently a cross dressing male but would really appreciate the company of women
As a male i do not feel i want to join any mens groups as i dress as a woman frequently
I am only looking for friendship and to socialise
Would it be possible to come along or is this something you do not cater for?
Yours sincerely
Alan / Linda
Thank you for you message and sorry for the delay in replying. You are very welcome to come to one of our meetings as a visitor. I have checked with our Adviser as I wanted to make sure I gave you correct advice, but unfortunately you cannot become a member of the WI if you are not living as a woman as we are a women only group. As I said though, you are most welcome to come to up to 3 meetings as a visitor but just not as a member. We charge £4 for visitors. Do have a look at our website to see if there is anything of interest.
I could not tell from your message what sort of crafts you were interested in but there is a knitting and crochet group that meets twice monthly at the Assembly rooms. There is also a group who meet monthly called The Big Mend. I don’t know if either of those would be of interest to you?
And please do not hesitate to contact us again if you would like any more information.
Regards
Karen
