Sally Helvey one of the trustees of The Cleveland Pools – one of Bath’s hidden gems, gave us great insight into the Pool’s history and some of the great characters who have been involved with it over the years -not to mention some of our members who remember dipping their toes in that chilly water. The Trust to restore the Pools was set up in 2005 to and originally the opening was planned for 2017. This has since slipped to 2021. A recent rejection for lottery funding has been given a reprieve and a new bid is in the process of being formulated. It is a momentous project and we wish the Trustees well in achieving the up and running restoration of the Pools.
Sally would love for any members who have memories of swimming and using the Pools to get in touch with her and share their stories. She will send a contact link that I can pass on.
Finally, as most of you are aware, sadly our lovely ‘willow weaver’, Su Macpherson recently died. She had donated some money from the sale of her crafts to the Bath WI. We have used this money to buy a bell, to keep her memory alive during our meetings. This is a picture of Sue Deere saying a few lovely words and presenting it to our President Trish Tassis.
