For our first meet in 2018, we have Charlie coming to speak to us about her work with unmanned aircraft, aka, Drones.
Charlie is the Deputy Head of Strategic Unmanned Air Systems and is responsible for the project management of some of the UK Ministry of Defence’s largest “drones”. As one of a handful of women in senior project management roles she has a particular interest in promoting greater diversity in the organisation and will talk briefly about her career and experiences in Defence. The talk will cover an overview of the work of Defence Equipment and Support, the current air systems in use with the Armed Forces, and those currently in development, including the wider issues around the use of these platforms including the use of airspace in the UK and public perception.
Charlie has also recently submitted her MSc thesis which is on gender diversity in senior roles in DE&S (Defence, Equipment & Support) within the Ministry of Defence and plans to weave some thought provoking views about Women’s roles in Defence.
Should be a great evening. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our Members.
