We’ve had a chilly January with some amazing bright sunny days. On Wednesday, we are welcoming Shane Jordan to our midst, who hopefully will share some warming recipes that avoid food waste. Shane describes himself as a vegetarian chef and education practitioner from Bristol. Specialising in creating imaginative meals from surplus food.
Shane Jordan is a chef and author based in Bristol, recognised for minimising food waste by using leftover edible fruit and vegetable skins in creative dishes. He has been described as a “pioneer” for his imaginative use of food waste in restaurants and has written a cookery book detailing his alternative approach. Promoting sustainability outside the kitchen, he has partnered with a host of waste UK waste initiatives, including Vegfest UK, FoodCycle, Love Food, Hate Waste and Waste & Resources Action Programme.
In addition, Shane is hoping to bring some waste-reducing booklets, recipe cards and other goodies too! All in all, it sounds a good evening. So, between now and then, we all need to be focusing on our own kitchen waste and whether we feel it’s an acceptable amount, or do we need to try harder? I’m sure we’ll all end the evening on a positive note as to how we can reduce our own food waste.
