After our summer break we look forward to seeing everyone from 7.30 at Bathwick St Mary’s church on Wednesday 2nd September.
Ben Howlett is Bath’s newly-elected MP. At the September meeting we will get a chance to hear about election pressures, life at Westminster as a new boy and any parliamentary gossip that he’s allowed to divulge! There will be MPQs at the end but unlike the real thing, no party politics, heckling or general braying allowed!
Ben was formally the National Chairman of Conservative Future in 2010, the youth wing of the Conservative party whereby he campaigned for better provisions and services for young people. He also debated against the Bath’s former MP Don Foster on tuition fees, employment opportunities for young people and public sector reform. He has worked with the RUH and the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases for 6 years. His voluntary and community work includes organising the CF Poppy Fund and a Help for Heroes shoebox appeal for troops serving in Afghanistan.
Ben is a pragmatic conservative and he believes the majority of residents in Bath are equally as pragmatic. The majority of residents want an MP that will do the best for Bath, aside from political partisanship. He believes Bath needs a hardworking MP who champions local causes on the green benches of Parliament while visiting local markets, schools and community groups to find out the matters which matter to Bath’s residents.
