A huge thank you to Jude and Alex from Writing Events for a great May meeting! There was a lot of concentration and scribbling as we worked our way through a set of writing prompts and exercises. Thinking about six things that make you happy focussed the brain and the pen. And what a great suggestion from Alex that we keep the list, adding if one hundred seemed an achievable target, and looked at them on those days when life seemed gloomy or during those middle of the night moments.
The room then buzzed with talk when we were all given a button. Some of us disliked our button and others found great inspiration from it; stories of swagger coats with secrets hidden underneath, losing buttons in the rain and Clementine’s treat from grandma. Jude and Alex’s very calm and timely hints about using all your senses meant that we all avoided writers’ block and produced a mini-story in just a few minutes.
If you feel inspired and would like to write more, Jude and Alex run writing workshops in the Bath library on a Thursday morning from 10.30-12.30. Please contact them to confirm dates and also that there are spaces as numbers are limited. They are also running a one-off event at the library at the same time on June 18th – £15 to attend. And coming up in October, ‘Myths, Fairy Tales and Plot’…. Have a look on http://www.writingeventsbath.co.uk
